 The Turtle Hospital was opened in 1986 with four main goals: 1) repair injured sea turtles and return them to the wild, 2) educate the public through outreach programs to local schools, 3) conduct and assist with research which aids the sea turtles , and 4) work toward environmental legislation which makes the beaches and water safe and clean for sea turtles.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), is the largest animal rights organization in the world. Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals.  The Taronga Foundation's vision is to be recognised as a world leader in the development of philanthropic support for the conservation and presentation of Australian and exotic wildlife.
Through The Taronga Foundation, their zoos also support conservation, breeding and education projects for threatened and endangered wildlife in Australia and around the world, including Sumatran Tiger conservation in Indonesia, recovery programs for Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby and Little Penguin populations in NSW, Asian Elephant conservation and breeding programs, and Silvery Gibbon rescue and rehabilitation in Java.

 
 

The Conservation Association of Flora & Fauna (APREFLOFAS) is a private non-political organization, and truly non-profit, founded in 1985 to fight for conservation of Costa Rican tropical forests. Members of FECON, the most important network of Costa Rican ecologists, and of IUCN (the World Conservation Union).

The main projects are centered around deforestation and illegal plant-trafficking, illegal hunting of wild animals, contamination of  rivers and a rescue program and relocation of birds, monkeys, reptiles and other native species. These activities are carried out by  Volunteer Park Guards, who constitute the foundation of the organization.
